Can I Do CrossFit?

Despite what you might have heard, CrossFit works well for everyone.  CrossFit is designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect application for any committed individual, regardless of experience.  First of all, we use the same programming for our masters’ athletes as we do for our college-age athletes. Secondly, we scale load and intensity based on your fitness level; we don’t change programs. Because the Towpath Fitness staff is CrossFit certified, as well as highly knowledgeable, you can feel comfortable taking scaling suggestions from the whole team.

For example, if the workout calls for barbell squats using 135 pounds, but you can only do squats using the bar (45 pounds), then that’s where you’ll start.  If you cannot do squats at all due to injury, a similar movement will be substituted. Also, if the number of reps is too many for your current ability, that will be reduced as a result.

What Can I Expect at Towpath?

Towpath Fitness is a community-focused CrossFit gym located in Valley View, directly beneath the Valley View Bridge. We focus on lowering barriers to fitness, not building them. No matter your age, fitness level, disability, middle schooler to retirement community, you belong at Towpath Fitness. Along with CrossFit, we also offer Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting through Towpath Barbell Club, CrossFit Kids & Teens for younger athletes looking to burn some energy or improve in sports, Personal Training, monthly Women Strong classes, nutrition assistance, and so much more.

How Do I Join Towpath?

If you already have CrossFit experience, great! Whenever you are ready, drop in and check us out. On the other hand, if you are new to the sport and want to get to work, we are happy to get you started. Before joining regular class times, you will need to complete the Towpath Fundamentals Course. So long as the Towpath Fundamentals coaches give the green light following the completion of Fundamentals, you can select a membership package and jump into any class of your choosing!
